Vacancy: Honorary Consul in Queensland

We are looking for a new Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Queensland.

What would you do?

As Honorary Consul you will be the representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Queensland. In close cooperation with the Embassy in Canberra and the Consulate-General in Sydney you will actively promote Dutch interests in Queensland, in trade, cultural, political and other fields. You will represent the Netherlands at formal occasions of the State Government and at formal Dutch holidays, such as King’s Day.

In the case of visiting Dutch delegations (from Embassy, Consulate-General or from the Netherlands) you are requested to assist in preparation of such visits and to participate when required.

You will perform a limited number of consular tasks for Dutch citizens. You will also be a first point of contact for Dutch citizens in Queensland who, in case of emergency, might be in need of assistance.

This will not be a full time position, and you should be able to fulfill the functions of Honorary Consul alongside your regular duties.

Who are we looking for?

A well established business woman/man with an excellent network and access to representatives of state government and business, including the local Dutch community.

A person with his or her own office (including management support), based in Brisbane.

Ties and/or affinity with the Netherlands, either through family or business.

Dutch nationality and/or knowledge of the Dutch language would be a bonus, but is not a requirement.

This is an honorary position. Expenses will be covered, based on an annual budget.
