Bluemont: Fire & Rescue NSW takes delivery of their first Hytrans mobile water supply unit.
In August the unit, manufactured by Hytrans in The Netherlands, was delivered by Bluemont and features a 8,000 liters per minute pumping capability with easy (open) water access. The 1,600 metres of 150mm hose can be laid at 40 km per hour and recovered at a speed of 2 km per hour.
The Hytrans unit will enable FRNSW to tranfer bulk water quickly over large distances to feed fire appliances, monitors, temporary firewater reservoirs and aerial appliances. Or in case of flood: pump out tunnels, low lying parking garages and cellars. Initial training has started.
Other Australian users of Hytrans include most large petro-chemical companies (tank farms, refineries, ports) and Fire Brigade CFA in Victoria.
