Economic and Trade Departments in Australia

ENG - BoxThe Netherlands and Australia are miles apart. Despite the enormous geographical distance both countries maintain remarkably close economic relations. The Netherlands was the 5th largest investor in Australia in 2011, while the Netherlands was ranked 8th in the top destinations for total Australian foreign investments. Measured in two-way trade with Australia, the Netherlands ranks 5th within Europe and 17th overall, with total trade of more than A$6 billion. Within Europe, the Netherlands is Australia’s second largest export destination.

The close economic ties that already exist are only being strengthened by Australia’s excellent economic outlook. As a country with a growing population and economy, sound fiscal policy and at the doorstep of booming Asia, Australia is a promising market for Dutch companies to explore. All the missions closely follow the economic developments in Australia and its individual states. We can help Dutch companies doing business in Australia or help Australian companies to trade with the Netherlands.
