Australia is poised to receive its first Nereda® wastewater treatment installation. Aquatec Maxcon – the Australian Nereda technology partner of international engineering and consultancy firm Royal HaskoningDHV – has been awarded a design and construct contract by Queensland’s South Burnett Regional Council. The contract will see the upgrade of the Kingaroy wastewater treatment plant by September 2016.

Nereda is a sustainable and cost-effective biological wastewater treatment technology based on natural ingredients. It treats wastewater with the unique features of so-called aerobic granular biomass, which are purifying bacteria that crate compact granules with superb settling properties. Nereda stands out for its high treatment capability in combination with significantly lower investment and operational costs, a very small physical footprint and high energy savings, up to 50%.
